emerg-med is an open-source web-based patient tracker.
Use the demonstration emerg-med site here .
Emergency / acute medicine, ambulatory and urgent care centres need to collect data using a common language, to be able to:
- communicate consistently with patients and other staff.
- do audit and research to improve our care.
- understand how patients use these services, and where value is added in the healthcare process.
emerg-med collects patient data using the data set from the Emergency Care Data Set that was implemented by the NHS in 2017 based on work by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. However, emerg-med is not a product of, or endorsed by either of these organisations.
emerg-med supports different languages e.g. French. The code sets are not yet translated and this will be completed once the ECDS code sets are finalised.
emerg-med is a lightweight application – it does not require a large expensive computer or expensive software. All the software is freely available and emerg-med can run on the Raspberry Pi 3, a £30 ($50) computer, making it ideal for use in low resource environments.
